Heading out on the road on your bike for a camping trip takes some consideration about which motorcycle accessory or two that you will need to take with you. If you are only using the motorcycle saddlebags, then that means you will have a very limited amount of space in which to pack things, so organize and plan accordingly.

If you are planning to add additional motorcycle accessories to the bike, such as a luggage rack, then that will definitely give you the freedom to add additional items. The same holds true if you are going to pull a trailer. Of course this will give you more room, but you'll still need to be careful as there are certain things you need to be aware of when you have a trailer. You should choose the most lightweight model that is compatible with your bike. It takes about 30 minutes to install the hitch under the bike's rear fender, yet care must be taken to ensure that it will not hinder the operation of the bike.
Once you have decided on whether or not to use just the saddlebags, add a luggage rack or pull a trailer, then it is time to decide what other motorcycle accessory or two you will need, keeping in mind the weight limit for your motorcycle. You may want to start by making a list of what you believe you will need, such as a tent, possibly a ground cloth and a sleeping bag, if you will not be camping where cabins are available.
There are other items that you will want to consider and it is always a good idea to have a motorcycle cover in case of inclement weather while you are camping. If you are going on a long trip, then you may want to include water and snacks for the ride in case you stop somewhere and do not want to have to unpack everything, or if you will be in a remote area with no roadside diners. As well, a motorcycle tire repair kit is always a good item to have on hand.
Another motorcycle accessory that you may want to consider is a first aid kit; while it is always a good idea to have one with you it is especially important if you are going to be camping in a remote area. A pocketknife and a poncho or rain suit are also fairly important for camping as are whatever personal toiletries you may require. If you are going to be cooking your own food then you will need to include some kind of cooking utensils as well.
